150 Years In The Silver State

In case you hadn't noticed, Nevada is celebrating its sesquicentennial - a Latinate word for 150th birthday. To mark the occasion, the state's universities and numerous writers have combined to produce a state history: "Nevada: 150 Years in the Silver State." But this is not the usual encyclopedia. It covers the range of times and places but it is a series of essays and photos on specific topics and they all have a thesis that tells you more than just dry dates and facts.

The book will be launched Thursday night at the Clark County Library and we talk with the editor and a couple of contributors.
